Amy Jacques, MS, MA

Amy Jacques, LPC, BC-DMT, is the dance/movement therapy program coordinator and assistant professor of psychology. She also teaches classes in the dance department. Amy completed her master’s in clinical counseling psychology at Brenau University with a specialization in psychological teaching. Additionally, she received her master’s in dance/movement therapy from Columbia College Chicago and is pursuing a Ph.D. in expressive therapies at Lesley University.

Amy is a board-certified dance/movement therapist and a licensed professional counselor. She is also a registered yoga teacher (RYT-200). In addition, Amy is certified through the Isadora Duncan Foundation in New York in teaching Duncan modern dance technique. Amy also has a private practice where she works as a counselor and dance/movement therapist. Her specialties include working with trauma, eating disorders, anxiety, depression and clients on the autism spectrum.

She is a founding member and former President of the Southern Chapter of the American Dance Therapy Association (ADTA). She serves as the Co-Chair of the ADTA Subcommittee for Approval of Alternate Route Courses (SAARC). In addition, she has a professional ballet and modern dance background and has choreographed and staged works for various schools, companies and festivals. She has presented on dance/movement therapy in numerous conferences.
