Dr. James “Jim” Lewis graduated in 1988 from the University of Georgia, majoring in exercise and sports science and obtaining his certification and license as an athletic trainer. He earned his physical therapy degree from Georgia State University, graduating in 1990. Dr. Lewis holds his licenses in the state of Georgia and has practiced physical therapy for over 30 years in the out-patient setting.
His clinical experience includes a focus on musculoskeletal and joint-related injury of the extremities and spine, and he has 11 years of experience in clinic management. He completed his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Boston University in January 2007, and began his teaching career in January 2010 as a part-time instructor at Georgia State University, transitioning to a full-time faculty position three years later.
Dr. Lewis has been teaching at Brenau University since 2014 and was recently promoted to full professor. His primary teaching focus includes gross and functional anatomy, radiology, musculoskeletal disorders, health promotion and wellness, differential diagnosis, and orthotics. He is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, Applied Prevention and Health Promotion Therapies (Certified), American Association of Clinical Anatomists, and American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine. His research interests include clinical orthopedic pathologies, prevention/wellness in all population groups, and musculoskeletal use of diagnostic ultrasound.
