Since being named president this spring, it has been a great pleasure to meet Brenau University alumni at events like Alumni Reunion Weekend (see photos below) and a May gathering in Asheville, North Carolina.
Highlighting the many strengths that make Brenau such a special place – including the hard work of our faculty, staff and students – and the ways alumni may remain an integral part of the university’s future has been a truly rewarding experience. I look forward to additional opportunities to engage with alumni at future gatherings and events like the Brenau Braves game on Sept. 29, which also is open to faculty, staff and students.
As a reminder, we will observe the federal Juneteenth holiday on Wednesday, June 19, with the university closed for the day. Juneteenth has long held significance for African-American communities, commemorating the day when the last enslaved individuals learned of their liberation through the Emancipation Proclamation.
At Brenau, fostering a culture that promotes efforts leading to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging remains an important objective. We strive to cultivate a vibrant community where every individual feels welcomed and valued. This commitment is so deeply embedded in the core of our mission that it forms one of the six pillars of our strategic plan.
