Honoring service during November

Skleder Hall
Skleder Hall, dedicated on Nov. 8, 2024, along with a portrait of the late Dr. Anne A. Skleder. She was Brenau's 10th president.

The fall months have flown by, and November’s arrival means the end of the fall semester is not too far away; the last day of classes is Nov. 26.

I invite all students, faculty, staff, alumni and members of the community to join the Brenau University Board of Trustees for a very special event on Friday, Nov. 8. At 4 p.m., we will gather for the unveiling of the official portrait of the late Dr. Anne Skleder in the newly renamed Skleder Hall. Brenau Trustees authorized the portrait, the renaming of New Hall, and the Anne A. Skleder First Generation Endowed Scholarship Fund to honor Dr. Skleder, who was our tenth president, and her legacy of service to the institution. The national First-Generation College Celebration happening on the same day is fitting, as it always was important to Dr. Skleder to support first-generation students.

On Nov. 11, we celebrate Veterans Day to honor veterans, and I offer my personal thanks to all of the Brenau students, faculty, staff and alumni who have served our country as well as veterans across the region. For more about Brenau veterans, be sure to listen to the November episode of my podcast.

As a reminder, faculty and staff will receive emails during November about required training and open enrollment for benefits, so watch your inboxes for those important messages.

Lastly, I encourage the Brenau community to relax, recharge, and spend time with family and friends during the Thanksgiving break Nov. 27-29. During this season of thanks, I want to express my gratitude for all of you and for your support of Brenau and our students.

Without our students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors and friends, Brenau would not be the premiere institution of higher education that it is today.
